Who Moved My Cheese: Embracing Change

Have you ever worked hard on an idea or project — only to have the rug pulled completely from under you?

My question is — how do you respond?

It's easy to give up, fold your tent, or have a pity party.

Or…you can draw from similar experiences — when you overcame adversity!

Let me explain...

For the last five months, I've been improving my trading and developing software to enhance it.

I also made plans to sell my tools in the trading software marketplace.

A few days later...BOOM!

A regulatory change forced many brokers off of the trading platform.

The customer base dropped and now traders were scrambling to find other solutions.

The funny thing is, I noticed my own broker making seemingly random server upgrades.

It was unclear to me because their justification didn’t match the sudden urgency.

Now, I know. They “got the boot” too!

I felt dejected!

Then I remembered what I learned while reading — "Who Moved My Cheese" by Brian Spencer.

That simple book earned me “tens of thousands of dollars” later in life.

Who Moved My Cheese?” is a parable about change — that takes place in a maze where four characters (mice) look for “Cheese” — a metaphor for what we desire in life.

The four mice were named “Sniff”, “Scurry”, “Hem” and “Haw” — they represent the simple and complex parts of ourselves.

The bottom line is this…

How do we navigate the Maze and succeed in always changing times?

Now picture this…

This weekend I did my regulatory research. I watched several YouTube videos on the Broker/MetaTrader regulation topic.

In short, I was trading CFD (contract for difference) indices and learned that I could continue this style of trading by switching to the Futures market.

I was relieved and also learned something new.

Trading the Futures market is more regulated (transparent) than my previous approach. This is a long-term and sustainable approach to me. (Disclaimer: not financial advice; consult your financial advisor)

In conclusion…

Embracing change helped me improve my trading conditions, and I found a broker that will work with my existing software solutions!!!

Hooray!

Now, imagine if I had given up and flat out quit?

Can I ask you a question?

What are you facing that requires you to pivot or change in order to stay on your success path?
