Do you believe in magic?

Works like magic

Everyone loves a good story...Right?

Here’s a story I shared on LinkedIn about using this Harry Potter wand at work.

A story about my Harry Potter wand

True story…
I kept this Harry Potter wand in my office.

I used to be a Maintenance & Facility Manager at a large manufacturing plant.
If there was a problem at the facility — 99.999% of the time I would hear about it!

I won't bore you with all the day to day details so you'll have to use your imagination. 😉

One day it was problem after problem and I finally had enough. Only if I had a magic wand — Aha!

I ordered a Harry Potter wand and couldn't wait to bring it to work.

I had an open door policy and it was common for anyone
to walk in and chat or discuss issues.

And this one time, I was ready!

I remember someone coming in to give me the rundown
on a current issue.

I am listening intently as usual — trying to process the
concern. At the same time I am reaching in my desk
drawer to show off my new toy (tool rather).

I couldn't hold back my excitement any longer...

I got it! I whipped out the magic wand and did my best
wizardry impression.

We had a good laugh. 🤣

I guess this wand was my version of the
‘Easy Button’ or ‘Magic 8 Ball’.

All of a sudden, the problem became smaller.

From time to time, I would use that magic wand to lighten the
mood (when appropriate).

I didn't share this personal story to lecture you on humor but
it is good to laugh sometimes.

Manufacturing life is challenging. Everyday you are dealing
with issues while trying to improve on the last record performance.

I get it.

When I work with consulting clients, I put myself in their shoes
and tap into past experiences and situations — to help solve their problems.

I know what you're thinking....Use that
Harry Potter wand next time. I just might 😉

In all seriousness, if you run a manufacturing team and need someone who has experience dealing with high pressure situations and you want out of the
reactive culture, feel free to message me.

I can't guarantee you that the magic wand is no longer
required.

But I can promise that adopting a culture of continuous
improvement, focusing on being proactive — will ease
the day to day stress and pressure!

Oh...and increase that bottom line too!

I don’t know exactly where you are on your journey, but I share words of encouragement, lessons learned, and ideas to help you grow your business.
