From Chaos to Clarity

My Journey After Graduating During 9/11

“There are winners, there are losers and there are people who have not yet learned to win.”

― Les Brown

Back in 2001, the Tragic events of 9/11 Shook the World!

And — I graduated college shortly after. I was about to enter the job market during a time of chaos and uncertainty! Little did I know that a business opportunity would teach me one of the most valuable lessons of my life.

A classmate introduced me to a network marketing business. At the time, I was applying for engineering jobs. I joined, attended trainings, joined the chamber of commerce, and pitched my family too. Despite making a few sales, I decided to quit.

Prospecting wasn’t for me. I remember walking up to a lady in Walmart and pitching her on our offer. She didn’t say much but gave me a grin. Let’s say, we both knew I failed miserably - LOL. It’s ok - you can laugh too.

I can say that network marketing helped me start good personal development habits.

Quick question - Have you ever read a book or received a word of advice that changed the direction of your life?

For me it was these three key points that planted seeds:

  1. Rich Dad Poor Dad: Go to work to learn not to focus on money!

  2. Jim Rohn: Work harder on yourself that you do your job!

  3. Friend: Don't get too comfortable at a job, or you might be in for a surprise!

This advice helped me during my first engineering job. I learned everything I could while expanding my expertise. Things became more clear as I developed. I soon realized that playing offense was crucial to my success. I didn't want to get caught off guard like my co-worker who got laid off.

Fast forward 15 years and several corporations later, I made the entrepreneurial leap. The success I've had came from prioritizing my mindset maintenance. There will always be ups and downs in life and business. We must focus on maintaining a positive and growth mindset.

It will change your life!

I don’t know exactly where you are on your journey, but I share words of encouragement, lessons learned, and ideas to help you grow your business.
